Reading anywhere and everywhere

When I was a kid, I often heard the refrain: don’t read in the car, you’ll ruin your eyes.

I never listened of course, and I now wear glasses, but whether it’s true or not, it’s a sacrifice I’ve always been happy with. I read everywhere I can — I confess, there are times when I’m standing at a set of interminable lights that I’ll go back to the article I couldn’t finish reading on my phone.

But not walking — with my two left feet, that’s asking for trouble. I’ve seen people walking through Sydney reading Fifty Shades of Grey and still don’t know how they managed to make it work unscathed.

Reading is the only reason I’ve ever been happy with a long commute — no seriously. An 1:45 minute commute was enough to get through a healthy chunk of a book I was reading.

And this is what got me thinking about how I rate my book reviews — more often than not, my commute to and from work is where I get my reading done and I think my reviews make that obvious sometimes. So I thought I’d incorporate that into my reviews — stay tuned for Wednesday’s review!
