A whopping 80 books published in the UK have just been nominated for The Folio Prize.
What, I hear you ask, is the The Folio Prize?
Sponsored by The Folio Society, these 80 titles are nominated by The Folio Prize Academy — which in turn, is a body of writers and critics from around the world. Basically, if you want good books, they’re the best people to tell you which ones to read.
The only restriction to the prize seems to be it has to be published in the UK. Otherwise form, genre and the author’s country of origin don’t matter at all. These 80 will be culled to just 8 — anyone else want that job? — and then the winner chosen from those.
