I wrote this a few years ago. There are many conversations circulating at the moment about why it is important to call out disrespect. It leads to abuse. When children are involved, it leads to child removal. A mother, whether her voice is silent or loud, is powerless without those that are there to listen and help.
I wrote this from the perspective of the child. We need to bring more awareness of the importance of supporting women and children who experience domestic violence to not create long-lasting trauma.
