Join a little boy searching the farm for his breakfast one fine morning in this charming picture book from bestselling author Mem Fox and award-winning illustrator Christine Davenier.
Early one morning, a little boy sets out to find something for his breakfast. He searches the farm for it. Could it be by the gate? In the truck? In the haystack? Little ones will delight in seeing barnyard animals and guessing what it is the little boy is searching for until he finally finds it and settles in for a delicious breakfast with his grandmother.
I just found this story so magical, I really did.
Early One Morning is pretty straightforward: a young boy goes searching for breakfast across a farm. He searches by a gate, a haystack, even a sheep and a cow, but to no avail until…
… he does find his breakfast in a little hutch, surrounded by hens.
Mem Fox is a beloved children’s author in Australia, and generations of kids have fallen in love with her books (adults too!). She’s written over 40 books and both my sisters started libraries for their kids with her books first.
In this case, Christine Davenier’s illustrations just turn everything up a notch to magical for me. The link above takes you to her website and oh my goodness
They look so magical! Is that paint? Sketches? Who knows! I want to get lost in those pictures!!!
Mem Fox’s charming words and these illustrations just make for such a lovely combination! I can’t wait to share it with my nephews!!
