Can’t Wait Wednesday was once Waiting on Wednesday, but the purpose is the same: for bloggers to highlight what they’re waiting on. This week that is The Spiral
Erma Bridges’ life is far from perfect, but entirely ordinary. So when she is shot twice in a targetted attack by a colleague, her quiet existence is shattered in an instant.
With her would-be murderer dead, no one can give Erma the answers she needs to move on from her trauma. Why her? Why now?
So begins Erma’s quest for the truth – and a dangerous, spiralling journey into the heart of darkness.
With all the inventiveness of The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and the raw brutality of Mulholland Drive, THE SPIRAL is a unique crime thriller with killer twists – and 2020’s most jaw-dropping ending.
I am by no means a fan over hype, but I got an email from a publicist that certainly caught my attention. One thing I hate about blurbs like this? It aims for the big shock and missed the better parts, like the dual timelines and the very very different and utterly compelling characters that they follow. Can I even say what they are if I got info from an email!?!
Dual timelines 👀 And something that caught my attention in the synopsis is: “crime thriller with killer twists.” Is that supposed to be a pun? 😅
May be it is (the worst) pun LOL!
It sounds like quite a conundrum… I hope this one turns out to be a real page-turner, Verushka.
I hope so too!
I already feel for Erma. That’s a lot to be in the dark about.
I agree, it is! There is some great potential here, I think!
Ooh, this sounds like it has a little bit of everything!
I think so – I really want to get my hands on it!
This definitely sounds promising!
I hope it’s as good as it sounds!
This one sounds good and I’d be interested in checking it out after seeing a few reviews. I’ve not heard of it before so thanks for sharing!
Always!
Yikes! I also want to know why Erma and why now? I’m also a sucker for a book that uses the dual timeline well so I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts on this one when you read it because it sounds fantastic.
