Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 bookish lists to the theme for the week. This week is about those names that could be pet names.
As I have been living vicariously through everyone else’s pets, I am going to enjoy this one!
Daisy: This one would be for a cute little puppy, and I probably should mention most would be for doggos! From the Great Gatsby, which I actually don’t like.
Dorothy: Specifically from The Golden Girls, but for the purposes of this TTT I’m going to mention it’s totally from The Wizard of Oz! I had a colleague at work who was going to adopt a cavoodle puppy and name her Betty White, because well, Betty White is awesome. But Dorothy. She would be a delicate puppy, and naturelly be as tough as nails.
Jack Quick: The actual Jack Quick in his book series has a host of problems, but I still like his name… but maybe for a cat? Or a ferret.
Mata Hari: one of the characters in this book, and I think a poodle, maybe.
Drusilla: not to be mistaken for Buffy’s Drusilla, though I think at their heart, the actual Drusilla that prompted this addition is determined, ruthless and she will protect herself and her sister at all costs.
Rosa: Rosa is somewhat psychopathic in My Sister Rosa, but I adore the name.
Drusilla’s fun. 🙂
I believe anyone named drusiila would be the life of every party. Ever!
When I see the name Drusilla I will never not think about Buffy’s Drusilla. 😆
Me too! She made that name so cool!
Daisy would be a great name for a poodle or Spaniel. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/11/ttt-111720.html
It would be! Especially a spaniel!!
I like the names Daisy and Dorothy! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I love them too! I weirdly find them so sunny!
Fun picks! My dad actually had a mini poodle named Daisy and I always thought it was such a cute name.
OMG, MINI? That’s so cute!
Oh, Daisy is such a cute name!
Sunny and happy right
Jack Quick is a fun name for a pet. I like that. You mention Daisy for a small, cute pet, but I sort of like when those names are give ironically to big pets.
Heee, you are so right — seeing a big girl with a name like Daisy would be great too! I feel like a husky maybe? Or a St Bernard?
Ooh, Drusilla is a great pick!
My post.
We had a maltese Called Spike — I figure Drusilla needs a turn LOL!
I do like the name Rosa. I named my cat Charlie after Charlie in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
-Lauren
Charlie sounds perfect fr a cat!
Rosa is a great name, I’m a big Brooklyn Nine Nine fan so any pet called Rosa for me would probably be named after Rosa Diaz.
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2020/11/17/top-ten-tuesday-290/
Much better choice for a Rosa than the one i was looking at lol
This post was so much fun.
It was!
Rosa is somewhat psychotic? Perfect name for a cat *laughing* I adore your list 🙂 Here’s my post: https://www.nbiblioholic.com/2020/11/my-last-ten-5-star-reads.html
LMAO! She is wholly psychotic, but yes I agree on the cat!
There’s something really funny to me about naming your pet after a book character that is very morally gray or has psychopathic tendencies. Imagine saying that name all high pitched to your sweet little pet, knowing all too well where it came from :p
IKR? I have heard tales of people naming their dogs Voldemort, which makes life interesting in public lol!
Daisy made my list, too! But from a different book. 😉
I saw! It’s such a sweet name right?
Buffy’s Drusilla was the one that popped into my head first I’ll admit it!
Lauren @ Always Me
We had a maltese called Spike, so I thought Drusilla needed her time to shine!

I have always loved the name Dorothy—The Wizard of Oz, Golden Girls, or whatever. You’ve made some great choices!
Thank you!
