Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 bookish lists to the theme for the week. This week is about getting to know each other, so here’s a little bit about me, including hobbies:
Born: South Africa, lived in Canada and Australia — ohhh, and Amsterdam, which was such a surprise to me. It’s a beautiful city, and welcoming to foreigners (despite what I had heard previously).
Something I’m scared of: I had a back injury years ago that left me thinking that I will never be able to be pain free, but I found a chiropractor, found a trainer and started listening to my body and figuring out just exactly what I had to do to get stronger and make sure that never happened again. It’s left an mark on my psyche because I’ll never not get scared if my back twinges in the wrong way ever again.
Stress levels: I have got to find a way to control and channel my stress levels. Or try meditation. Or something. I have to work to be able to handle it better because I grind my teeth when I’m stressed — and I post exhausted stuff on here that is really just bad rambling. I’d rather lose my shit, but not a good look.
Favourite food: Vietnamese rice paper rolls (right now, at least). Lemon and garlic roast chicken. And cheese. I blame Amsterdam — it is insanely delicious.
Favourite movie: anything old calms me down. Hell, even Law and Order calms me down and right now I’m watching a lot of that. (Right now, National Treasure is just making me zen and and calming me right down).
Favourite show: The X-Files. Hands down, except the last (new) season i wish didn’t exist.
Show I wish was a favourite: Grey’s Anatomy. At least then i’d have 15 seasons to calm me down. (I do not get the attraction).
Thing I took ages to learn to do: Driving. I had the most serious anxiety about driving for years, and it was only in my 30s that I actually got the damn thing. I went out on the weekend, and my mother told me she’d drive bc she wanted to get there by 9, and with my slow driving (CAUTIOUS driving) that was never going to happen. HA.
Yeah. That’s me!
Thanks for sharing. You know I’ve never Watched a full episode of Grey’s Anatomy. Have you watched Virgin River in Netflux? Quite calming and season 2 comes out this month.
there is nothing quite like an unexpected post about hobbies to make you realize you need more hobbies! I haven’t seen Virgin River but I have seen the ads – the guy in it is from grey’s and is Australian.
You crack me up with your graphics. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/11/ttt-non-bookish-hobbies.html
I’m glad your back injury was fixed. How scary!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
What a fun post! I loved learning more about you, Verushka! I also love cheese; like, I’m low-key obsessed with it.
Wow, you’ve lived in a lot of different places! I think you told me once that you lived here in Toronto for a while? 🙂
My post.
I love The X-Files so much (not the new series…) but I used to watch the “old” series all the time. I miss it.
I’ve started walking longer and longer. It helps with that anxiety. It’s really high right now with all the COVID and election stuff lately. I hope we can both keep our anxiety away.
Ah I was in South Africa earlier this year, I did a volunteer internship in Cape Town from January to March. I had an amazing time and definitely want to go back at some point, I travelled outside Cape Town a little but there’s still so much more I want to see!

Wow! I have only lived in the US and not even in that many states (3). Cheese is one of my favorite foods too, but I indulge much for health reasons. I was Grey’s fan. I watched up until 2019, which is when I stopped watching TV, but XFile was an amazing show.
