Can’t Wait Wednesday: Love Among the Recipes

Can’t Wait Wednesday was once Waiting on Wednesday, but the purpose is the same: for bloggers to highlight what they’re waiting on. This week that is Love Among the Recipes

Blurb

A fun, food-infused romp through pre-pandemic Paris—the perfect antidote in these challenging times.

Paris may be for lovers, but cookbook author Genna McGraw is definitely not looking for love. She’s looking for escape and she’s looking for a good runny Brie to pair with a smooth Bordeaux. Where better than Paris?

In Love Among the Recipes, Genna goes to the City of Light to get away from her philandering husband and write a “crossover cookbook/guidebook” that matches Parisian sights such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre with recipes for bistro-style French dishes. All goes well…for a while. Genna dabbles in romance with dishy French lawyer Pierre Leblanc and makes friends at her French class with New York transplant Marsha Renfrew.

And then there’s big, blunt Bill Turner from Australia. Does he really eat crocodile steaks for tea?

But when Genna’s family crashes her new life in Paris, a crisis forces her to choose how she wants to live. Will she have the courage to embrace an uncertain future and risk losing everything?

Or will she discover love in all its flavors?

I feel like I need to preface this by saying that Amy Adams was the reason I picked this for my Can’t Wait Wednesday pick, because it looked like a quirky romance and for some reason I thought of Amy Adams in that Julia and Julia movie and somehow it all came together and made sense in my head …. and then when I read the blurb I saw it was based in Paris, and that there was actually an Eiffel tower on the cover, which I missed entirely!

So, yes, Paris + food and a Genna coming to terms with what she really wants from life. I find this DELICIOUS!

This sounds like it will be a fun read. I can totally see Amy Adam’s in a movie version!

(I couldn’t help but notice the blurb says “pre-pandemic Paris.” It has happened a couple times now where I have picked up a book and wondered why the characters weren’t wearing masks and social distancing for a second or two.)

This is my first ‘pandemic’ blurb. I genuinely sat my computer looking at it for a bit before I continued reading — it’s so weird, but I guess this is how books will be differentiated now.

  • Stephanie @ Bookfever says:

This part of the synopsis, though: pre-pandemic Paris 😂 LOL

  • Angela says:

I’m pretty sure this book was written just for me! Adding to my TBR, thanks for sharing!

  • Marg says:

I am looking forward to this one too! Paris, food, romance. I’m in.

  • Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy says:

I love the sound of this! I had to double check the author’s name because at first I thought you meant Amy Adams was the author, lol.

  • Sam@wlabb says:

You have to appreciate that you now see the phrase “pre-pandemic” in descriptions. Paris and food – a great combination.

Our new normal, I guess. I keep wondering what some of my other books would be like if they had to take pandemic social distancing into consideration.

  • sjhigbee says:

Urg! And now I know we really are in the “new normal” when book blurbs are using the phrase – pre-pandemic… Though other than that – this one sounds a lot of fun with some edges, too:)). I hope you enjoy it, Verushka.

    • Verushka says:

Oh for sure — I am sort of curious to see hw publishers start handling this. I see a new ‘pandemic’ genre in our future.
