Can’t Wait Wednesday was once Waiting on Wednesday, but the purpose is the same: for bloggers to highlight what they’re waiting on. This week that is Later
#1 bestselling author Stephen King returns with a brand-new novel about the secrets we keep buried and the cost of unearthing them.
The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine – as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave.
Later is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King’s classic novel IT, Later is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.
On the one hand, it’s a crime novel by Stephen King (as he hinted about in his conversation with Michael Crichton) BUT on the other, why on earth does it have to have echoes of IT?
And how wonderfully retro is that cover?!?!
I hope you’ll enjoy this one when you get your hands on it. 🙂
I’m going to put my big girl pants on for this one, and actually read it *nods*
Oh I hadn’t heard anything about this, definitely going on my wishlist
YAY!
Love the retro cover – how fun!
Me too! It made me want to read this book even more!
I almost featured this today too, Verushka!! I’m super excited for another Hard Case Stephen King:-)
Has he done others?? I had no idea he had a series with them
I haven’t heard of this one yet! I’ll have to get it on my list. Hope you enjoy it!
thank you!
I grew up being terrified by Stephen King adaptations and have never been brave enough to read any of his books. I hope this is a hit for you
I can watch some of the shows based on his books but not all — though I am.pretty proud that I got through the second IT movie 😁 but his books — no, just too scared and I was waiting for the non-horror book I kept hoping he would write 😅
This sounds fantastic! I normally don’t read much Stephen King because I’m a chicken but I might have to make an exception for this one.
Me too, Suzanne 😀😀 I am crossing my fingers I can get through this and that it is more crime than horror
I’m looking forward to this, that cover is so retro!
I have read a couple of his books and enjoyed them – but right now they are a bit full-on. I hope you love this one, Verushka:))
