Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday.
It’s held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 bookish lists to the theme for the week. This week was supposed to be about books I loved but never read because I forgot about them entirely because I have the attention span of a gnat when faced with new books, but I am doing what is essentially: books i loved the look of, but forgot to read.
When We Were Magic: The cover attracted me rightaway, and that the blurb mentions dark comedy was an added bonus!
Has The World Ended Yet: I mean with a title like that I feel it’s apt first, but also it’s a collection of short stories in which but the most fantastical characters experiencing the end of the world.
Widows-In-Law: I found this after watching Widows, which was an amazing film, but also was intrigued by the widows in this, brought together to find just how their husband kind of, sort of maybe screwed them over: where did he hide the money?
Upon a Burning Throne: first that cover, but also inspired by an Indian epic? Yeah, I should have read this.
David Mogo, Godhunter: The title itself is one of the best, Nigerian God Punk. How did I not read this?
Cursed: The Netflix show has finally started and after watching about 10 minutes of the first episode, I’m pretty sure I’m going to stick to the comic.
Darling Rose Gold: UGH, I liked this one because The Act was on a cable channel here. I never ended up watching to the end of the show for some reason though.
Seven Lies: Best friends and seven little lies that led to the death of one of the friend’s husbands. It’s the intimacy of the friendship, broken by these lies that attracted me to this one.
That’s it for me! What would a list like this look like for you?
Sometimes I just can’t seem to make myself write a review about a book that I love. I wonder now if it is that I am afraid that my review won’t live up to the book itself. Here is my TTT list
You know what, that’s a good point. I know I’ve felt that way about some books before — like the feel after I finished is just so perfect, I don’t want to spoil it by putting it into words.
Seven Lies sounds pretty good, and so does The Widows. I’m curious. That Netflix show also has me curious, I saw it pop up on my Netflix recs. 🙂
If you give Cursed a go, review it please. I was so bummed I couldn’t even make it through the first ep.
I just HAD to look up Upon a Burning Throne because I got really intrigued and yup gotta read this one. It sounds amazing!
Why didn’t i read that Steph?? WHYYYYYY!!!!
I love your comment about Cursed 🙂
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Oh I so wanted to like that show, but hard pass after the beginning of the firs tepisode.
Nigerian Gold Punk. That sounds interesting.
It does!
I hope you find time for all of these books soon! If only we all had unlimited time to read, eh?
Thanks for stopping by.
Truer words were never typed, Lydia! If only!
Darling Rose Gold is one I keep seeing around and then I forget about it!
Me too LOL! I think I might read this one next. I need me a general, no reviews-needed read.
Great list! When We Were Magic and David Mogo, Godhunter are both on my TBR.
Thank you! They do sound cool, right?!
These lists have had me laughing. So many books, so little time–sometimes to read, sometimes to review!
Haaa, you hit the nail on the head, Jen! We need to get paid in to sit at home and read!
I hope you’re able to read these soon! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
TY!
Ooh, love so many of these covers! Darling Rose Gold always always catches my attention and I really want to read it because I heard it’s so twisted. David Mogo is also a really eye-catching one! Hope you get round to these eventually 🙂
Oh, hello, I have not really read reviews of Darling Rose Gold yet, so your comment makes me want to read it even more!
I tried Cursed as well, could not get into it!
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2020/08/11/top-ten-tuesday-276/
OMG, thank you! I was so crushed when I just couldn’t get into it because I had been on pins and needles for it!
I am unfamiliar with these. I think I know When We Were Magic, if it’s the YA book, and maybe Cursed, if it’s the vampire book. I love covers and add a LOT of books to my TBR based on cover alone, but like you, I forget about them. Out of sight, out of mind.
Out of sight, out of mind is right, I think. Cursed is an Arthurian legend retelling in which Nimue finds Excalibur before Arthur. The premise is incredibly cool!
Some of these I haven’t heard of but I do have Rose Gold on my Kindle and one day I hope to get round to reading it!!
Thanks for sharing your list!
I think I need to get to that title next. So many bloggers are looking forward to it too!
Wow, I love this topic and what a great list. And yep, you’ve reminded me of quite a few books I wanted to read and never did!
We need TBRs for lists like this, I think. But it should be a FTR? Forgot to read list?
I hate when I forget about books I was waiting on! It’s so frustrating. Sometimes, if it’s been too long, it’s hard to even get myself to pick them up. I hope you get to these soon!
You just described me — it is hard to pick something up if I’ve left it for too long!
That’s a shame about Cursed. I DNF’ed the book a while back but still had high hopes for the Netflix series.
