Top Ten Tuesday: Happy anniversary to TTT but I still can’t decide what to do this week

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday.

It’s held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 bookish lists to the theme for the week.

As this week is TTT’s 10th anniversary, we’re supposed to be doing an update on a previous topic. Instead, I’m choosing 5 pairs of authors I would like to see in conversation — they’re mostly the authors I’ve read and I would like to see them in conversation with.

Tori Eldridge and AA Dhand: Authors of The Ninja Daughter and the Harry Virdee series respectively. The MCs have an Asian background, and their families and their culture (good and bad) feature in both. I’d like to know more about how these families shaped or will shaped the characters and their narratives.

Jane Austen and Alisha Rai: Because Alisha Rai’s modern love series is on my radar, and every review of it has been brilliant, and given Pride and Prejudice’s Elizabeth is a character I love for the modern aspects in her, I would like to see this coversation.

Tara Moss and Sujata Massey: Both authors write historical novels (Dead Man Switch and A Murder at Malabar Hill) in which strong women are navigating a shitload of sexism, and solving mysteries as they do. As such, I want to see the difference and similarities in how they approached their characters.

Candice Fox and Louisa Luna: This one is a bit of a cheat, because the Candice Fox series I am thinking of for this conversation is one she writes with James Patterson — the Harriet Blue series. Harry, reminds me of Louisa Luna’s Alice Vega, who is as dark a character as Harry is, if not more so. What drives them? Where does each author see their character ending up?

That’s it for me this week! What authors would you like to see in conversation?

    Cool idea! Nice list!

Oh I like how you did this. I had a hard time deciding how to narrow down this week’s topic too. This is a good one though. Authors in conversation- I’ll have to think about this one. Might make a good future topic when I go rogue haha!

This is such an interesting idea! it’s not as much of a conversation but I’d love to see Harry Potter illustrated by Chris Riddell. But there’s all the Rowling drama and yeah. 😐

Ooh, this is a great topic! I decided to keep it simple looking back on ten posts that I’ve done 😂 I haven’t heard of many of these authors but I’d LOVE to hear the Jane Austen and Alisha Rai conversation! Rai’s books have also been on my radar and I can’t wait to read them. Lovely list!

I wouldn’t even know where to start with this topic, so kudos for coming up with it and finding such great pairings.

I’d be quite interested in hearing all of these conversations. They’d be fascinating.

    My TTT .

This was a fun idea! I’d like to see a conversation between Bram Stoker and Stephanie Meyer because their ideas of vampires are so completely opposite of one another. I wonder who would win that debate. ;D

  • Stephanie @ Bookfever says:

Great idea for a topic! I’d love to see Eoin Colfer and Rick Riordan in conversation. I can just imagine how fun that would be!

  • Astilbe says:

Tori and AA would be so interesting to listen to.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

Fun! There are so many authors I would love to see in conversation with each other. Kennedy Ryan actually did a series of them on Instagram recently and that was really cool.

  • Angela says:

How fun! I love the Jane Austen/Alisha Rai matchup – I’d love to see those two talk about relationships!

  • Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra says:

I agree that it was hard to come up with something this week. The topic was too wide open for my indecisive brain, haha. I like what you did here though and would love the Austen – Rai matchup. That would make for some interesting conversations.

  • Danyelle says:

    A fun idea!

  • Dedra @ A Book Wanderer says:

What a great twist this week! I wouldn’t even know where to start with this topic, so great job. It’s always interesting to hear the different methods authors use to write. 🙂
