Welcome to Can’t Wait Wednesday, a book meme 1000% guaranteed to make your TBR longer, because blogger share the books they’re looking forward to — usually that’s a new title, sometimes that can be an old one. Either way, you’re going to enjoy it!
This week I am waiting on Make Up Break Up
Blurb
Love, romance, second chances, fairy-tale endings…these are the things Annika Dev believes in. Her app, Make Up, has been called the “Google Translate for failing relationships.”
High efficiency break-ups, flashy start-ups, penthouses, fast cars…these are the things Hudson Craft believes in. His app, Break Up, is known as the “Uber for break-ups.” It’s wildly successful—and anathema to Annika’s life philosophy.
Which wouldn’t be a problem if they’d gone their separate ways after that summer fling in Las Vegas, never to see each other again. Unfortunately for Annika, Hudson’s moving not just into her office building, but into the office right next to hers. And he’ll be competing at the prestigious EPIC investment pitch contest: A contest Annika needs to win if she wants to keep Make Up afloat. As if it’s not bad enough seeing his irritatingly perfect face on magazine covers when her own business is failing. As if knowing he stole her idea and twisted it into something vile—and monumentally more successful—didn’t already make her stomach churn.
As the two rival app developers clash again and again—and again—Annika finds herself drawn into Hudson Craft’s fast-paced, high velocity, utterly shallow world. Only, from up close, he doesn’t seem all that shallow. Could it be that everything she thought about Hudson is completely wrong? Could the creator of Break Up teach her what true love’s really about?
Sandhya Menon takes on an adult genre under the pseudonym Lily Menon with Make Up Break Up, and it sounds just as wonderfully quirky and romantic as her YA fare. I’m interested to see how she makes the jump to this genre and the differences to her YA fare. And yes, I finally read There’s Something About Sweetie.
What do you think? Are you willing to try Menon’s adult fare?
I’ve read When Dimple Met Rishi before and didn’t love it but maybe I’ll like her adult books more. You never know!
It sounds fun and I think I’d really enjoy Annika and Hudson so much!
My CWW
This does look really fun. I just saw the cover for it this week. Hope we both love it!
Nice one! When authors decide to jump from YA to Adult I’m always interested in seeing how that plays, and I really hope this one works great 🙂
This sounds like an intriguing read – and so many YA authors triumphantly transition onto adult books successfully. I hope you enjoy this one, Verushka:).
This sounds really cute! I’ve only read one of her other books, and although I didn’t love it, I’m always willing to try more!
What a great concept, this sounds like a ton of fun:-) Thanks for sharing, Verushka!
This sounds totally entertaining. On my list it will go. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I love Menon’s contemporaries, and I have high hopes for her adult book. I cannot wait to read it!
This sounds fun! You couldn’t get more opposite than those two–at least in the beginning. I hadn’t heard of this one, but am definitely interested. Adding this to my wish list.
This sounds like a good read and I love the colors on the cover. I might have to give this one a chance!
Oh cool, I thought this book sounded great but didn’t realize it was Sandhya Menon writing under a pseudonym. That makes it even more appealing to me since I love her YA books.
