Top Ten Tuesday: Time to party hard! What would my book party be like?

If youโ€™re new to my blog, welcome to Top Ten Tuesday. Itโ€™s held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 bookish lists to the theme for the week. This week’s topic is about our book parties and what they’d look like.

Instead, I’m going to write the characters and authors I would like to attend a book party.

Enid Blyton: she was the author who made me love mysteries, with The Famous Five. I still hold that series dear to my heart.

Nancy Drew: Another reason, I love mysteries. I would like to have her, or Carolyn Keene to chat to.

Candice Fox, Emma Viskic, Tara Moss and every Australian crime author I can think of: I would like to learn what attracted them to the genre, and how the genre has changed in Australia since they began reading and then writing the genre.

Tori Eldridge: the author of The Ninja Daughter. I want to know what sparked the creation of Lily Wong, and her world because I am hooked.

Balli Kaur Jaswal: author of Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows and The Unlikely adventures of the Shergill sisters because they feature women in stories I never expected to adore.

Oyinkan Braithwaite: author of My Sister, the Serial killer — that book is one that hasn’t even really ever left my mind because I haven’t read anything like that before.

Charlaine Harris and Harper Connelly: I’ve gone on and on about this series, and If I could I would like to know how Harper was created.

Sally Andrew and Tannie Maria: This is a South African cosy mystery, and Maria remains such a fascinating career. She really is genuinely like your favourite aunt, but she investigates crimes AND has a past which grows every more complicated with each book as she comes to terms with PTSD from her previously marriage marred by DV.

The Women of Primrose Square: Wonderfully diverse, messy women who are coming to terms with who they are, and what their lives are like now.

Jack Heath: his main character is a cannibal. I need to know: how, what, when, why.

Nancy Drew, the old version, I should have clarified. I haven’t yet checked out the new version but I am excited that she’s back in people’s minds again!

Nancy Drew sounds interesting to converse with, though I really need to read the books, haha. I would definitely love to talk with mystery/crime authors though, too!

“his main character is a cannibal. I need to know: how, what, when, why.” I’m just like, yeah that would be an interesting conversation lol

  • Lydia says:

Nancy Drew would be such a great person to have at a party. Just maybe don’t play any guessing games with her unless you want her to win. LOL.

Fun take on this one! I couldn’t think how to do it. But I love your idea. And I’d definitely want Nancy Drew at my party, too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Clearly, you should host one of those murder mystery dinners with all that talent there.

*facepalm* You are so right, and it didn’t even click until you told me that my guests would fit that perfectly!

  • Brooke Lorren says:

Nancy Drew would be interesting to have at a party!

What a fun take on the topic, and a really diverse guest list too!

This is a great list but I have a feeling with Nancy Drew and Harper Connolly there someone might end up dead. At least before the night is over, hopefully you’d know who did it ๐Ÿ™‚
