So Top Ten Tuesday is held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 being asked about. This week’s post is a freebie, a topic of our own choosing, so here’s my topic: those audiobooks I will probably never finish listening to
Locke and Key
By Joe Hill, I think I managed to get this as a freebie, but never finished. I can’t remember why, and I forgot I even had it tbh.
Rage against the Dying
By accounts from the blurb, I should like this story of a former FBI agent pulled back into her past and a case that never let her. But something just didn’t work for me, and I can’t even remember what it was exactly.
Force of Nature
I believed the hype, and couldn’t stand the book. I’m still half convinced I’ll be going back to this because it’s Jane Harper, and The Dry was magnificent. Sighs. But not this one.
Angel Catbird
A Margaret Atwood comic book, that was a little bit too quirky for my tastes.
Blackout
Brilliant blurb, but the narration was bad. BADDDDDD. I just couldn’t.
Tell no one
A Harlan Coben novel, that actually was really good, so I think this one might’ve been me. *shrugs* I’m moody, what can I say.
The Confession
I wanted to like this so much, but it just didn’t work for me. Pacing I think — and way too many characters getting a voice, literally.
Bone Music
Pacing here is what got me… but still it’s good. Maybe I should try the book? I don’t know. From a fast-paced excellent beginning, things slowed right down and I got so bored.
I almost always finish audiobooks, even if I don’t like the book. Ha! Favorite Reads of the Past Ten Years
I guess I don’t know any of these, but yeah I have a fair amount of books I won’t finish too. And I struggle w/ audio…
Oh man sorry to see Force of Nature on this list. I wasn’t in love with the Dry but wanted to try this one.
I have the book Bone Music and have heard good things so I’m hoping it picks back up for you. I can’t imagine listening to the audio book of Locke & Key. The artwork in the graphic novel is one of the reasons I like it so much. Great choice of topic!
I’ve read the Locke and Key series, but as they are graphic novels, I imagine an audio might be difficult to pull off.

How often do you listen to audiobooks in general?
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thanks!
So many times I’ve quit an audio book because the reader/narrator was horrible. Ooofff! My TTT: https://mwgerard.com/top-ten-tuesday-poems/
I am not a fan of audiobooks so probably I can’t relate to this theme much 😛 Till date I have listened to only one audiobook and that too was an autobiography. Though I enjoyed it quite much, I find it hard to concentrate.

I’ve tried a few audiobooks over the years and unfortunately have never been able to get into them, I find I’m not really listening and can’t absorb what I’m hearing the way I would when reading a book. My husband loves audiobooks and listens in the car on the commute to and from work but he doesn’t really like to read. Go figure.
Oh, I loved Locke and Key…although after I finished listening to it (and I too got it for free), I read some of the reviews others had written and it seems like it’s more enjoyable if you’re familiar with the graphic novels the production is based on. It is so dialogue heavy with very few descriptions that I can understand not being able to get into the audiobook without prior graphic novel familiarity.
Have a great week.
I don’t know why but I always seem to struggle with audiobooks. The only ones I seem to easily finish are celebrity memoirs. I am sorry to see Force of Nature on your list. I still need to read The Dry but had heard such great things about that, I had already added the newer book to my TBR. Maybe I’ll try it in ebook format instead.
I have a real love and hate with audiobooks! If I can’t get with the narrator I just can’t see wasting my time with audio… I read faster and just don’t have the space I need to listen. ❤️
I’m wary about risking buying audio books unless a trusted friend assures me the narration is good. I own 7 Harry Potters, It, and 2 Game of Thrones!
I have abandoned two audiobooks. One, because the narrator’s voice was just too high pitched. It was painful to listen to. The other, because I just could not follow the story. It was way too ambitious for me to do as an audiobook.
Sorry these didn’t work for you. I did enjoy the physical edition of Lock & Key.
