Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday book meme

Top Ten Tuesday is held over at That Artsy Reader Girl, where every week bloggers list their top 10 being asked about. This week’s post is about the Top 10 Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read

And this turned out to be quite illuminating ….

The Dragon Conspiracy, SPI Files 2.

I remember enjoying the first in this series, but as is often the case, I got distracted by something nice and shiny. Way back in September 2014.

Every Darkening

This sounds like an awesome exploration of what it means to be a superhero. Or something. Why did I forget about this?

Zeroes

Um. Yeah, this is the one that makes me feel bad.

The Killing of Bobby Lomax

Given I’m wondering why this is on my Goodreads, you can well understand why I never got to this.

The Rental Heart and other Fairytales

Hmmm… yeah like I said above…

The Secret Son

…. why?

Persuasion

For real. This is on my TBR. *shrugs* I think because I was feeling guilty I’ve never read anything but Pride and Prejudice?

Indelible Ink

I should have read this one. It sounds fantastic!

The Opposite of Hollywood

Sounds good actually.

Beside Myself

I think you have to be in the right mood for this one, because it sounds emotionally taxing… and yeah, still not there.

No regrets, I don’t think. What about you?

I think I remember some of these, especially Zeroes? And yeah it’s funny how books can be on your TBR for ages, and then one day I’m just like… nah. lol

  • Kelly says:

I’ve had Zeroes on my shelves for the longest time too Verushka but unfortunately books are always pushed aside for newer reads aren’t they. It’s hard being a reader, we’re so spilt for choice. I need to break out my copy and soon!

    • Verushka says:

Kelly, you just made me feel so much better with regards to Zeroes! We are indeed spoilt for choice and low on time me thinks. Dammit, real life! 🙂

  • chucklesthescot says:

My problem is that ALL of my books sound great and I keep buying more so I can never read them as quickly as I’d like to! Sometimes I find it hard to choose which to read next!

  • Barb (boxermommyreads) says:

Well, I just added Indelible Ink because I had to see what it was all about. So I guess the TBR grows. I’ve always been curious about the SPI Files books. I love urban fantasy but don’t read enough of it now – it used to be one of my most-read genres.

    • Verushka says:

Heh, when that happens, I just go with my growing TBR and have made my peace with it lol It’s the only way lol I’m still keeping abreast of urban fantasy, but I’ve found myself reluctant to branch out because I’m enjoying mysteries so much. Checked out the newest Sin Du Jour?

  • Let's Get Beyond Tolerance says:

I’ve actually read Persuasion – it’s the only Austen I’ve read. LOL I don’t think I know the rest. I have a lot of books that I actually OWN from years ago that I need to finally read.

    • Verushka says:

I could not go further than P&P. I didn’t even want to try. I wonder if I knew I just couldn’t handle more than one jane austen classic every couple of decades!

  • Poinsettia says:

Persuasion is very good! I hope you’re able to read it soon. Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.

  • Jenea's Book Obsession says:

I have so many on my TBR, if I have more hours in a day it would be great! Most I haven’t been able to get from our library. I should really go through them. 😊

  • Kay says:

Persuasion is indeed very good. You might have to be in the mood for it though. I think I wanted to read Zeroes at one point, but not sure what happened. LOL

    • Verushka says:

I think mood is the apt word here. I just haven’t been so in a couple of (long) years 🙂 Heh, yeah, but not understanding how books get onto the TBR and not read? I do that too! Still no good answers for it lol

  • Danya @ Fine Print says:

Persuasion! I really love that book. I wish that I were free from TBR regret, but sadly I’m plagued by it! Combing through and culling books I’m no longer interested in is basically a religion for me, so the books I’ve got on there from 2009 (UGH) are still ones that I want to read. *cries forever*

    • Verushka says:

Oh Danya, 2009? Oh honey, I feel like I need to hold your hand as you go through your TBR on a cull! I forget to cull, that’s my problem! They’re all just there!

  • Sarah says:

Lots of titles here I am unfamiliar with but no big surprise. Some look like books I might enjoy though. Happy Reading!

  • Stephanie @ Bookfever says:

I haven’t read anything but Pride and Prejudice either. Oops 😛

  • Kay Wisteria @HammockofBooks says:

Nice list! I need to read Persuasion too; I’ve read half of Austen’s works and really want to tackle the second half 🙂 Happy reading!

  • Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra says:

I’ve forgotten so many of the books on my TBR, like seriously, I don’t even remember putting them on there, lol.

    • Verushka says:

*whispers* ME TOO. I really don’t understand why I put some of those things on there. I was literally looking at my TBR asking myself WHY?

  • Annemieke says:

I want to read Jane Austen’s work beyond P&J too but I don’t really count them towards my active tbr, you know? They are there if I feel so inclined but otherwise, meh.

  • Carmen says:

Don`t feel bad about Persuasion, it took me three tried to finish “Pride and Prejudice” and besides that, I have not read anything else by Jane Austen. I want to in the future, but I can`t say that I love Victorian literature. Good luck with your reading!

  • AngelErin says:

I finally read Persuasion this year. The only other one by her I read was P&P and I didn’t care for it. I liked Persuasion a little better, but I don’t think Austin is for me honestly. 😬

  • Literary Feline says:

I have a couple Jane Austen books that have been on my TBR shelf awhile now. Persuasion is really good, if you do get to it. I love Austen, but it always takes me a bit to settle into her books. The others you mention I am not familiar with, but they sound good!
