Lesson to authors: always research who you are submitting your manuscript to

Tramp Press

Tramp Press is an independent press in Ireland, who recently announced two things:

  1. They won’t read any letters addressed to: Dear Sirs <— which given it’s run by two women, is fair enough. Do your research about the publishing house you’re sending your manuscript to. Please.
  2. They won’t read any manuscripts with cover letters that declare they don’t read books by women…. <– I was absolutely utterly gobsmacked some authors have the gall to say that in a letter in an effort to get their books published. Srsly. SERIOUSLY.

Like I said — research everything about the publisher you’re sending your manuscript to. And:

Don’t be a sexist jerk

Their requests sound legit to me 🙂

You would think that after putting in so much time and work into a book, you’d put in that little bit of effort to see who it is you’re sending queries or whatever to in order to increase your chances of getting published!

You do wonder about some people’s stupidity!

I think their requests sound very reasonable and good for them for calling people out on those two things.

    Wow. Just Wow.

And I agree with the comments above – you’d think that people could put in a little research to try to increase the chances of being published!

    Totally relevant requests!
