Can’t wait Wednesday: Countless

Can't wait Wednesday- What are book bloggers looking forward to reading next-

Waiting on Wednesdays has become Can’t Wait Wednesdays but the purpose is the same: for bloggers to highlight what they’re waiting on. This week I have: CountlessCan't wait wednesday Countless

Blurb: Is there anything that’s concerning you?’ Felicity says. ‘College, home, boyfriends?’ Though she’s more or less smiling at this last one.

I don’t smile. Instead, I feel my face go hot. Silence stretches as wide as an ocean.
When I look up, Felicity has this expression on her face like she’s just seen Elvis. Slowly, she leans forward and in a gentle voice I’ve never heard her use before she says, ‘Have you done a pregnancy test?’

When Hedda discovers she is pregnant, she doesn’t believe she could ever look after a baby. The numbers just don’t add up. She is young, and still in the grip of an eating disorder that controls every aspect of how she goes about her daily life. She’s even given her eating disorder a name – Nia. But as the days tick by, Hedda comes to a decision: she and Nia will call a truce, just until the baby is born. 17 weeks, 119 days, 357 meals. She can do it, if she takes it one day at a time …

Heartbreaking and hopeful by turns, Karen Gregory’s debut novel is a story of love, heartache and human resilience. And how the things that matter most can’t be counted. Perfect for fans of Lisa Williamson, Non Pratt and Sarah Crossan.

I know I  just recommended The Art of Starving two weeks ago, but Countless made my heart hurt.

You’re SO funny, Verushka!! First you recommend “The Art of Starving”, and now, in this book, Hedda must EAT for the sake of her baby! Lol. But you know, mothers will always sacrifice something for their babies’ health and comfort. Had I been a mom, I would have done the same. And it’s really no “sacrifice” at all to eat a lot in order to keep a developing baby healthy! Lol.

This book sounds like a very engaging read, and I think some tears will be shed. I also think it has all kinds of feels, and will also be a very poignant book.

    Thanks for featuring this novel, Verushka! I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading it!! <3 <3 <4 🙂 🙂 🙂

I can’t help it, they’re soooo good! I love how authors are exploring things like this in YA so I’m honing in on these ones lol

  • Cass (Words on Paper) says:

Wow, this actually sounds really interesting! I find it so interesting that the protagonist has given her eating disorder a name! And yeah, if the whole pregnancy and eating disorder parts are handled well I could totally see myself falling in love with this book. Great choice!

    • Verushka says:

TY! I think it’s an important and different take on an eating disorder, and I’m hoping it does it well.

  • Silvia says:

I’m actually glad you shared this title because I think it’s pretty interesting! Different from my usual reads, but certainly deep. I think you picked a good one!

Thanks for sharing, here’s my WoW 🙂

Sounds like a good read on an important topic. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra says:

I love that YA books are covering such important topics. This one really intrigues me, especially the fact that the main character actually names her eating disorder.

  • chucklesthescot says:

This book has a pretty interesting concept and it’s good to see different twists on eating disorders. I used to read a lot on the subject years back and watched a ton of films about it but nothing much recently. Hope you will enjoy it!

I read this one a little while ago too Verushka and couldn’t agree more, having the storyline surrounding whet is eventually a young, single mum left me so incredibly emotional. I still need to finish off my review, was struggling to find the right words on how incredible a read it was. Brilliant choice! <3

  • sam@WLABB says:

This one sounds like it will be emotional, but that part about human resilience makes me think it will be hopeful.

  • Di @ Book Reviews by Di says:

This one sounds good and I love the brave choice of topics. It’s great to see more and more YA books dealing with such relevant stuff like this!

  • Rissi says:

This one sounds really interesting – albeit, complex and emotional. Though I had seen the cover around (which looks really unique!), I hadn’t really read what this one is about, so thanks for featuring this one. 🙂

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.
