WOW: Into White

Waiting on Wednesday- What are book bloggers looking forward to reading next-

Waiting on Wednesday is held over at Breaking the Spine, and it highlights the books bloggers are hanging out for. This week, my choice is: Into White

Book rec: Into White by Randi Pink

This is going to be out much, much later in the year, but I’m going to rec it now because it has such potential and I hope the author does the topic justice. This is the blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Latoya Williams, who is black, attends a mostly white high school in the Bible Belt. In a moment of desperation, she prays for the power to change her race and wakes up white.

That’s kind of it by now! But I hope it might start getting onto Netgalley soon enough?

You’re right, it could go either way. It really does depend on the author in this. I havenn’t read anything by her before either.

  • Laura says:

Definitely has the potential to be controversial. Hope the author does a good job on it. Wondering what year it will be set in?

    • Verushka says:

That is a good point, Laura, I couldn’t find out when it was going to be set. I hope the author treats this topic well too, it’s a tough one.

Hmmm…what an interesting concept. I may definitely check this out, especially once I heard a little bit more about it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

This one sounds great! I think I’ve seen it before on Goodreads, I’m not sure. I’m definitely adding that one to my to read list if it isn’t on there already. Great pick!
