Margaret Atwood on how technology shapes story

I forgot I had saved this gem! This is Margaret Atwood talking about technology and writing and how the distribution of writing has changed, though the way we write not so much. What I absolutely love is that she has embraced technology, like Wattpad (she’s got an account and you can read The Happy Zombie Sunrise Home, which she co-wrote with Naomi Alderman).

What I like about this is she embraces technology, even if it is just once. She also points out that the serialization that Wattpad offers is pretty much the same like the serialization that gave us things like the Sherlock serials, or the serials that things like Serial Box are doing.

The last line on this video is just wonderful. Sighs. More embracing of new tech please, less dumping on it. Nods.

I do think technology is great and you don’t have to embrace it ALL, but you should realize it’s a good thing and can be useful. that’s great she uses Wattpad!

She’s pretty amazing, isn’t she? I like that she embraces technology, without it meaning she has to stop liking or give up on the alternatives.
