Monday Musings #13: a look back at the week

musingmondays51

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

So two things today:

Charlie presumed dead

I’m currently reading Charlie, Presumed Dead, and thus far I absolutely detest Charlie and can’t imagine why the two girls, Lena and Aubrey were ever involved with him. It’s to the book’s advantage that he’s dead, because I’m not sure I would have continued. But it’s good because everyone has secrets!

I’m also listening to David Baldacci’s Memory Man and I’m thinking this might never end, because well it’s still going 8 hours later. Well, it is 12 hours long. It’s lucky it’s quite good lol

AND, this past week I blogged about:

  • Why I like Natasha/Bruce: My thoughts on Avengers: Age of Ultron and these two. I like them — they’re unexpected and they promise something new. And honestly, this means she’s not going to be like Steve Rogers. The Hulk showed more character development in 1 movie than Steve has done in 4 movies. Sighs. Expect spoilers for Ultron and Civil War.
  • The Purple Heart Detective Agency: I wanted to like this because it’s about two veterans who run a detective agency, and it promised some good character building. Which it did to an extent, but the case itself didn’t know what it wanted to be, I think.
  • Interview with Paula Morris: as New Zealand’s neighbour, sometimes all we do is compete in who beats who in sports. Srsly, it’s that bad. And then I discovered Paula Morris, a New Zealand author who writes about the cities in the world that I love most, and her work is always complimented about the atmosphere she creates in them.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Where is the strangest place you’ve ever read a book? OR… Where is the strangest place you’ve ever found a crazy-good book, unexpectedly?

TO be honest the strangest place I’ve found books that I love is secondhand bookstores. I’ll be randomly looking through something and voila, I’ll find something amazing! That’s what got me converted to them.

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a brief comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks

I love used book stores too. I didn’t put that in my post. Just answer strangest place to read.

I’m very boring, Jo, that’s the only strange place I could think of bc it wasn’t a bookstore or a library!

  • Malvika Jaswal says:

Second hand bookstores are the best. I love the books with an inscription on the first pages. Sometimes I wonder why people ever go and buy new books!

    • Verushka says:

Me too — I love buying from secondhand bookstores more than anything. I always wonder about the people that held and loved the books I do before I got them!

  • Valentina says:

Yup, I love second hand bookstores, too :)
