Things that make me cry? The National Gallery of Victoria holding the very first Melbourne Art Book Fair, bringing together Australian and international books designers and publishers on 1-3 May.
And all this goodness is not even close to Sydney.
Exhibitors will be showcasing fine art, architecture, design, limited editions and small-run artist books, and new types of art publishing.
Along with exhibitor stalls, there’ll be free talks, book signings, performances and a symposium on the future of book design and publishing — which is the one thing that grabbed my attention.
Exhibitors include Printed Matter, a NYC artist book institution; Melbourne artist book publisher, bookstore and art space Perimeter Books; independent Melbourne publisher Surpllus; independent Castlemaine publisher 3ply; Sydney publishing house and design studio Rainoff Books; and Melbourne print studio Dawn Press.
