Monday Musings #5

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:

  • I’m currently reading…
  • Up next I think I’ll read…
  • I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
  • I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
  • I can’t wait to get a copy of…
  • I wish I could read ___, but…
  • I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What do you think about re-purposing old books (eg. into art journals, etc)? Why?

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a brief comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks

I’m reading this next and hopefully it lives up to the promise in the blurb. The one last week — A Wicked Snow — had an awesome blurb that got me excited, but only half delivered.

Random question answer: I LOVE the idea of books being repurposed into something else! I was researching the Last Bookstore when I discovered book art and I fell in love with it.

How gorgeous is the above decor/art? I want to visit this place some day!

Here’s one more! This decor seemed to unusual to me the first time I saw it, but now I think every store should do the same.

And, there’s book handbags on Etsy!

I saw those repurposed books into bags from etsy and every bag look cool and classy! Thanks for sharing your MM 🙂 here’s mine https://coffeebookmom.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/musing-mondays-feb-2/

I had said I wouldn’t use my books in that way but I do really like your examples! Here is my MM https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/musing-mondays-february-2/

  • Jo @ Mixed Book Bat says:

I like your examples even if I would not use books that way.

A blurb which doesn’t deliver feels like a bit of a cheat – one of my dislikes:) I do like your examples up there. Would like our bookshop to do something like that. They probably wouldn’t – happy reading:)

That’s it, it’s a cheat! That’s a good way of describing it. What sort of bookstore do you work for? That’s always been my dream job!

  • Cheryl C Malandrinos says:

I hope your book delivers too. It’s a shame when the blurb is intriguing, but the content falls flat. Neat book art. I like to check out fun stuff like that too.

Hope you’ll visit me today at http://thebookconnectionccm.blogspot.com/2015/02/musing-mondays-february-2.html

    • Verushka says:

Thanks, Cheryl. Been falling asleep on the train thus far this week, so I haven’t got around to totally starting it yet lol But i have high hopes for it!

  • Sonia Lal says:

    That’s Harry Potter decor!!!

  • Cate says:

Oooh! I talk about The Last Bookstore a wee bit in my MM post.
