Teaser Tuesdays: Larque on the Wing

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Larque on the WingThis is from Larque on the Wing, a highly original, confusing novel that I don’t know what to make of just yet.

And if Shadow was gay—then he was like her. Dimly, with her burning heart more than her mind, she began to understand why she had always liked gay men. They suffered, were persecuted, they were outsiders in a world where studbuck male heteros held all the power, they did not count, they were Other—the way women were.”

I’m intrigued and wonder if it’s a real world setting or a dystopian one.

It’s definitely a real world setting, but one in which magic is commonplace. That part is quite fun actually!

Hmmm. I generally don’t enjoy novels that confuse me, but your Teaser is definitely interesting. I’ll have to read more reviews about this one.

Your comment sort of describes how I feel about this book — there are aspects that totally grab me and others that i don’t know what to do with, lol.
